Matt Lightner is the CEO and Co-Founder of the successful hosting company Site5 (http://www.site5.com).
Since establishing the Site5 Engineering Team—Site5’s new software development division—Matt has taken a strong interest in Ruby on Rails and AJAX. He is on a mission to spread the word about these emerging technologies throughout the web hosting industry.
Matt is a self-taught software developer. His first language is Perl, however he has a mastery of C, PHP and Ruby (learned in that order). Matt is also proficient in Javascript and Python, and is well-versed in object-oriented software architecture and relational database systems modeling.
Aside from programming, Matt’s interests include: statistics and linear algebra systems, microeconomics, American literature and philosophy of mind. Matt is an honors finance major with an English minor. Matt’s writing has appeared in several hosting industry publications and online newsletters.
Matt’s company, Site5, is in its sixth year of operation and provides a home for nearly 90,000 websites. Site5’s growth is stronger than ever due in part to the new “Superhosting” line of shared web hosting services introduced in May. As of July, Site5 officially supports Ruby on Rails for all customers—old and new.
